Autumn colors on Casper Hill road in Valley Cottage, NY.
On this spot in 1971 during a mid-winter ice storm, driving my 1971 Mustang 2+2 with a fellow employee of the Journal News, we encountered solid ice. He said to me, "DON'T HIT THE BRAKES!" I replied that I knew how to drive but he'd better pray that when we reach the bottom no one is on the other road. We were doing 75MPH at the bottom of the hill, I slid the car onto Route 303 South which had been plowed and salted. The fact that I'm here to tell the tale is evidence that no other morons were on the road that night...but we had newspapers to be delivered.
